No. Selling a kidney is illegal in India under the Transplantation of Human Organs and Tissues Act, 1994.
The Act prohibits offering, advertising, arranging and receiving payment for organs, with penalties of up to 10 years imprisonment and fines up to ₹1 crore.
Voluntary, unpaid living donation by a near relative — or an approved non-relative — is legal. Expense reimbursement is handled through the hospital.
