Ayushman Bharat (PM-JAY) provides up to Rs 5 lakh per family per year of cashless hospital cover, including dialysis and kidney transplant, at empanelled hospitals.
It covers dialysis sessions, transplant surgery and hospitalisation, and acute kidney injury treatment.
A common gap is that outpatient anti-rejection medicines after transplant are generally not covered — a cost to plan for in advance.
Eligibility is based on deprivation criteria. Check the PM-JAY portal or ask at any empanelled hospital.
